Math-U-See runs 4 grades further than RightStart Mathematics. If you want one program to carry the subject for the long haul, plan on leaving RightStart Mathematics around grade 8 and choosing again.

Grades K-12
Parent sits alongside through Primer and Alpha, kids go mostly independent from mid-Beta, and the blocks fade out at Epsilon and Zeta. Pre-Algebra to Algebra 1 is the rough transition, and Demme publishes free bridge material for it.
RightStart Mathematics
Grades K-8
Levels A through D are the most parent-intensive and the ones most families rave about. Levels G and H are written to the student and turn into geometry-heavy courses, so independence jumps there. Owners report standardized scores dipping in grades 1 through 3 before recovering, since the test order does not match the lesson order. Plan on a two-year commitment; transferring in or out mid-stream is where most families struggle.
