Abeka Language
Who it fits
Rigorous, structured Christian grammar with diagramming and worktext independence. Kids who resist worksheets, or families wanting secular or literature-based language arts, will fight it.

At a glance
What parents consistently praise
- Grammar coverage is thorough, including sentence diagramming
- The consumable worktext lets kids work mostly on their own
- Day-by-day lesson plans script the day, so there is little to prep
- Christian and patriotic content runs through the exercises
- Upper-grade grammar is as strong as anything out there
What parents report as challenges
- The worksheet load is heavy and repeats a lot year to year
- Composition instruction is plain next to the grammar
- The conservative Christian worldview is woven in everywhere
- Buying worktext, keys, and tests each year adds up
How it shifts by grade
Titles shift by grade: Language 1-3, God's Gift of Language A/B/C for grades 4-6, Grammar and Composition I-IV for grades 7-10, then the Handbook plus Workbooks V-VI for grades 11-12. Language C works as catch-up review for an older student.
Additional notes
Language is one strand of Abeka's full graded language arts program, which also covers reading, spelling, and writing. Many veteran users pick and choose exercises rather than doing every page.
