How it shifts by grade

K through 3 is parent-taught with a manipulative box. Math 4 and up switch to video instruction and mostly independent work. Owners flag Math 5 as the point where the workload jumps.

Additional notes

It's close to two programs with a seam at Math 4, where instruction moves to video and the child works on their own. Multiplication facts are assumed by Math 5, and the upper levels leave little room to show work, so a grid notebook helps. There's also a May 2023 CPSC recall on the magnetic whiteboard that shipped in some Math 1 and Math 3 boxes, worth checking if you buy a used set.
